Video Games

I grew up with the Nintendo and Super Nintendo as a kid, and as a result I discovered that some video games had good music. When nostalgia hit in college, I stumbled upon OC Remix and learned there was a community dedicated to creating nicer arrangements of video game music. After listening for about a month, I decided to get involved.

I wasn't good enough to make the cut at first, but I wasn't discouraged. I read books on mixing, took classes on studio recording, and practiced with the sampled instruments I could afford at the time. Apple provided me with my first set of orchestral instruments for Garageband. While not the most flexible software, I spent the extra time forcing it to do what I wanted and finally succeeded with an accepted submission.

In that rare moment of free time, I still continue to re-work older remixes in hopes of submitting more. It's very fun to find new ways to represent great music with such a limited soundset.
