Brightcove Support TV

Like most of my favorite work, Support TV happened on a whim. My manager organized a week of food, fun, and entertainment as a ploy to coax people into following protocol when asking our team for help. I created a video every day that week. The marketing team saw an opportunity and asked me to create support videos for the company as a means to teach and entertain Brightcove publishers.

After an initial planning meeting, I became responsible for the entire project. I wrote each episode, acted in them, scored them, organized interviews and guest appearances, edited them, applied special effects--just about everything involved in the production. I had help from co-workers, of course, with some elements, but for the most part I worked overnight to complete the episodes. It was my first huge project and I wanted it to be perfect.

The videos started off like the first video I did for fun--I was in front of a camera, giving antecdotes about a particular topic while leading into the educational portion. The first two episodes were just me. The third had an interview with the director of syndication. With each episode, I created a new trading card for a relevant member of the company. At episode four, I introduced a plot line for the rest of the series. The plotline began with a musical, escalated to paranormal phenomenon and sword fights, and all came together with the help of a stuffed beaver.

This project was unexpected and amazing. It gave me a chance to do what I want to do more than anything else so early on in my career. While I rarely slept during production and there was nothing more tiring than putting together the episodes, it was, by far, my favorite project to date.
