After winning at the One Show the previous year (2001), Brainco asked me and my team to come back the next year to compete again. While we didn't win the gold, we made it out with the silver and, I think, a better product than the previous year.

I was stretched a little thin during the 2002 competition. Someone from Brainco's video team dropped out and so I had to fill in as their editor. I also had taken an internship at Heavy.com. I got to know Red Bull for the first (and last) time that week.
The 2002 competition focused on a drink for baby boomers. We didn't have a specific product to market this time. Instead, we had to create one from scratch. I handled the Flash development like I did last year but also spent more time on the concept. My favorite part of the project was writing the drink's back story. Our fake company was started by a husband and wife who created the drink locally and promoted it by biking across the country together.
While we didn't take the grand prize, we were published again. We also lost the gold to a team who had a beautiful design. They deserved it. Their work was flawless and right on target.
I was in college the next year, so I didn't get to compete after that, but it was nonetheless one of the most fun weeks I had in awhile. I didn't get a chance to compete in another sleepless competition like this until the 48 Hour Film Festival in Boston, 2007. But that's another story.
