Play with flashSampler

flashSampler is a very basic sound sampler built in Flash 7. You can play any mp3 sounds from the internet, or your own hard drive (if you know how to specify the path), via your keyboard. Once you've entered all the URLs you want, press load and the sampler will notify you when it successfully loads a sample. Once a sample loads, you can play it by pressing the key specified to the right of the URL.

space = stop all sounds
left = toggle sample keys on and off
down = mute
up = unmute
a w s e d f y h u j k l = sample keys

I made this, among other little Flash toys, in college. Flash has a lot of possibility with sound, but at the time very few people were using it. That has since changed, taking Flash and sound far beyond what I was putting together, but it's nice to have a few things out there that make use of an underused subset of technology.

While I initially made this as an experiment, it has become somewhat of a useful tool for me. When I don't have access to a piano or keyboard and have an idea for a song, I can play with this to feel it out. It's always there if I'm online or have a local copy running and is a reasonable substitute for an actual keyboard when it needs to be. Perhaps it helps that I got to pick the key mappings :).
