While Brightcove afforded me the opportunity to do a lot of internal application development, the Brightcove.com badges signaled the first time that skill set was considered good enough to take public. I set aside a day, opened up Flash, and created the first badge implementation for the Brightcove.com Takeout page.

The Brightcove consumer team created a set of RSS feeds that encompassed entire channels or sections of the web site, allowing many custom development opportunities. In a way, the Brightcove.com badges were just that. They were a quick video playlist, in two flavors, allowing users to display the five or six most recent videos in their channel in a compact format.
